August 6th, South Beach, Chatham, MA.
Wilson's Plover Charadrius wilsonia.
Update: This species is a rarity in Massachusetts and this particular bird was one of about four individuals in the state during the summer of 2005. This long staying bird was accepted by the Massachusetts Avian Records Committe.
Special thanks go to Scott Surner and Val Miller for calling us over when they'd located the Wilson's Plover.
Taken using Canon Powershot A-95 through Swarovski HD telescope.

The Wilsons’ Plover spent much of its time hiding/roosting whilst we were there.
