| Lark Sparrow Chondestes grammacus, first-winter.
| This
bird turned up by a soccer field with just a handful of Chipping Sparrows
and House Finches. Ben Griffith
offered some useful comments on the age of this bird, and the
streaked breast clearly indicates that it is a first-winter.
Unfortunately, it was a short stayer, and spent most of its time behind
a chain-link fence at the edge of a soccer stadium, hence the rather poor quailty images. However, I still prefer
images of this quality to no documentation at all. It was present for
just 25 minutes or so, and wasn’t seen after 09:15hrs on the above date.
